Three Principles

Psychology

Over the past thirty or so years I've had a passion for learning about psychology. I've lost count of all the books I bought about different studies, approaches, techniques and theories. But although there were lots of good ideas I didn't find anything that I could describe as enlightening.

Although I knew a lot more, I was still basically confused by the whole subject.

Until I heard about Syd Banks and the three principles.

Sydney Banks

Syd's story is as remarkable as it gets. A Scotsman in his mid forties with few academic qualifications, living in British Columbia. Out of the blue he experiences a profound psychological insight. He shares his new knowledge with friends and neighbours and their lives improve dramatically. A few years later he is teaching the principles of psychology to psychiatrists and college professors. Thanks to him, thousands of people with serious problems have turned their lives around and are now living happily and productively.

Sydney Banks realised that human psychology is very simple once you understand the three principles of mind, consciousness and thought. When people come to understand these principles at a deep level, they experience life differently. They become calmer, wiser, and happier.

Benefits of Understanding the Three Principles

  • Your mind is calmer
  • You are more resilient to stress
  • You make wiser decisions
  • Your relationships with other people improve
  • You feel happier, more of the time
  • You don't let problems get you down

Using the Three Principles at Work

It's no exaggeration to say that the three principles have transformed my approach to HR.

The principle of thought has helped me understand how people change. Nobody changes behaviour until they change their thoughts. And a change of thought can only come from an insight. It can't be forced and it won't happen if the person feels under threat.

The principle of consciousness has helped me be aware of people's states of mind and moods. When I talk to someone about a difficult issue I need to know they are in the right frame of mind.

The principle of mind has helped me to be more confident knowing that I don't need to have a plan for every occasion. It's usually best not to prejudge situations but make an effort to really listen and let the wise answer emerge.

Can I help you and your employees gain the benefits of understanding these three principles?
